The fitting itself doesn't hurt. In the first days after fitting, and after each adjustment, a feeling of pressure or tenderness when chewing is normal, a sign that the teeth have started to move. The discomfort usually passes within a few days, and soft foods plus, if needed, an ordinary pain reliever help you through the adjustment period.
At what age can you get braces?
At any age. Orthodontics is not just for children, the mechanism that moves teeth works throughout life, so at 30, 40 or 50 too. For children, the first orthodontic evaluation is recommended around the age of 6–7, so that any growth problems can be caught early.
